Product Details

As indicated by the number of this ripe pu-erh, the recipe for this ripe pu-erh was developed in 1985, and produced in Menghai, Yunnan province. Its cousin, invented in the same year, is the well known 8582 raw pu-erh.

A proper ripe Pu-erh tea cake is something extremely difficult to find in today's market, because the technique of "piling" (渥堆) is not easy to learn, just as with the difficult techniques used in oolong tea processing. You need to control the fermentation of piling at the right spot to avoid over-fermentation and to be able to stop the fermentation at just the right moment. This requires patience and sensitivity to master.

Besides the refreshing, clean character of this tea, you will notice a mild, sweet flavor that lasts for many repeated brews. This rare ripe Pu-erh tea cake will allow a tea lover to recall the wonder of a ripe tea cake can bring, and also warms a tea lover's stomach like a mini stove in a freezing winter.
